Kantha Quilts

Kantha quilts have been around for ages, but in the design world, they have been over shadowed by more traditional throws like cashmere, tasseled wool and furs. In our rustic modern home, kantha quilts are a great way to add color as the seasons change. Vintage ones are definitely the way to go made with vegetable dyes, the colors are indescribable, and the patterns are much more organic. The newer ones these days sport chevron patterns, and just aren’t as timeless. Kantha’s are getting really popular being used as pillow covers, (kilims are too) and as upholstery fabric. For me, I have two twin poster beds that will have off white bedding and then a vintage Kantha at the feet.
