So the kitchen is done…well mostly done. We still have the metal shelving that needs to be made and installed, and the mudroom laundry isn’t finished, but the KITCHEN, is mostly done. The entire weekend was spent hanging subway tile, boxes of subway tile.
Seeing it all come together was amazing. The kitchen looks sexy, and polished. The back wall seems to go on forever, and the height alleviates the congested feeling when working in a galley. I got to take all the plastic off the appliances after the grout went it and I literally just sat back- just loving my commercial looking kitchen…then this happened…
Yup. The kitchen was finished. Stove was pushed back in, and we decided to put the child protect brackets just in case the stove toppled over. Bam. Glass broken. I guess that’s life. I’m going to try to see if the warranty covers it, or if we can order a new door. Otherwise, I have no idea what to do.
In the meantime, I guess I can just enjoy this.
We still have to have a little bit to go in the mudroom. The pantry is lined, and shelving measured out. We just need to cut the shelves and install. We need to paint the pantry doors. Custom built-ins need to go in around the washer and dryer. I need to find a vintage utility sink to replace that gross plastic one. Hunt down a wall hanging dry rack for next to the cabinets and lastly, we’ll have custom barn wood shelves from the built-ins to the wall for glass containers for beans, rice, pastas from floor to ceiling. Since we have that window there, we can’t carry the built-ins straight to the wall, the shelves will marry that space together.
Slowly but surly, it’s coming together. Is it crazy that I saw this when I saw this?
